- 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – Free, confidential support is available 24/7 by call, text, or chat for students and young adults who are feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or in crisis. This is the best first stop for immediate emotional support.
- Crisis Text Line – Students can text 741741 any time for free, confidential support from a trained crisis counselor. It is especially helpful for anxiety, stress, depression, or moments when texting feels easier than calling.
- The Trevor Project – Free 24/7 crisis support for LGBTQ+ young people across the United States. Students can connect by phone, text, or chat for affirming, confidential help.
- YouthLine – A free peer-support line for youth and young adults up to age 24. YouthLine offers call, text, chat, and email support, making it a strong option for students who want to talk with someone closer to their own age.
- NAMI Teen & Young Adult HelpLine – A welcoming, non-crisis support line where teens and young adults can connect with specialists by phone, text, or email for mental health information, encouragement, and help finding resources.
Wellness Programs
- SNAP-Ed State Programs – A strong free option for nutrition education and healthy lifestyle support. Through state and local partners, SNAP-Ed offers practical help with healthy eating, food skills, and physical activity.
- SMART Recovery Meetings – Free support meetings for alcohol, drugs, and other addictive behaviors. These meetings are guided by trained facilitators and can be a valuable resource for students seeking substance-use support in a nonjudgmental setting.
- Bedsider – A free sexual-health and birth-control support resource designed for young adults. Bedsider helps students compare options, find a clinic, and learn how to access care, including online birth control where available.
- Active Minds Chapter Network – One of the best peer wellness resources for colleges. Active Minds supports 500+ peer-led chapters across the U.S. that promote mental health awareness, community, and student leadership at no cost.
- parkrun USA – A free weekly 5K community event where students can walk, jog, run, volunteer, or simply participate at their own pace. It is inclusive, welcoming, and a great fit for campus wellness and recreation promotion.
